Beau Simmons La Bella Vita
"The luxurious lifestyle surrounding the equestrian industry showcases wealth, sophistication, and class. Each year when I visit Wellington, FL, I am overwhelmed by it. Luxury cars are parked along the Polo fields, showjumpers train daily on million-dollar horses, and athletes compete in polished show coats and breeches along with designer accessories. It truly is an elegant crowd to be surrounded by. I have made quite a few connections in this industry, and I'm blessed with the friendships I have fostered over the past few years. The photograph here was created alongside my beautiful friend, Amalie Hoerdum, who is originally from Denmark and competes here each season.

The idea behind this composition was to capture the world of showjumping and the world of designer fashion, complimenting one another. I was able to get my hands on the 2000 Vogue 'Gold Issue' magazine with Kate Moss as the cover to be displayed front and center in the final image. I scoured eBay for hours to find the highest quality copy that wasn't creased or full of torn pages. The horse we used for this concept was a gentle Mare named Dolly. Her striking all-white coat was the perfect contrast I needed to help separate the subjects. The final presentation creates an almost vintage feeling photograph that brings joy and smiles to the viewer. A moment in between competitions to peruse a bit of fashion and share it with our lovely horse companions. Conversations surrounding this lifestyle are always centered around the love of horses, and what better way than to showcase that through sharing everything with them? Besides, everyone loves Vogue in the morning. I call this artwork "La Bella Vita"––The Good Life in Italian" - Beau Simmons
