Simon Berger Untitled
Simon Berger (born April 9, 1976) is a contemporary glass artist recognized for his groundbreaking technique and mastery in working with glass. Born near Bern, the capital of Switzerland, he continues to live and work there. He was trained as a carpenter, which greatly influenced his understanding and manipulation of materials.

As the inventor and pioneer of a unique artistic process, Berger transforms glass through precise hammering and fracturing, creating dynamic works where light, cracks, and textures bring his creations to life. His work on glass surfaces transcends the ordinary, turning everyday window panes into powerful pieces that challenge perceptions and blur the line between abstraction and reality. His art invites viewers to explore the interplay of fragility, strength, and artistic interpretation.

Prior to mastering his distinctive medium, Simon Berger began his artistic journey with spray paint and cultivated a passion for mechanics, often working on car bodies. It was during an exploration of how to transform a car windshield that his unique art form emerged. "Human faces have always fascinated me," he explains. "On safety glass, these motifs take on a life of their own and captivate viewers. It is a journey from abstract fogging to figurative perception."

Today, his work is celebrated worldwide and is included in significant private and public collections, as well as in museums. His ability to transform raw materials into poetic expressions showcases his immense talent and visionary approach.
