Marcos Anziani Petals and Thorns, 2024
Marcos Anziani's Petals and Thorns is an expressive abstract painting where memories and experiences are translated into a cacophony of vibrant shapes and colors. The canvas is a rich tapestry of acrylic and oil, with spontaneous brushwork that gives a glimpse into the artist's personal narrative. Drawing on masters of Contemporary and Modern Art—such as Pablo Picasso, Joan Miró, Willem de Kooning, and Jean-Michel Basquiat—Anziani crafts an abstracted visual language, weaving emotional depth and complexity into the overlapping forms and lines. The artwork balances chaos and harmony, reflecting the interplay of Anziani's heritage and the multifaceted nature of recollection.

Despite the abstraction, one might discern elements that resemble human or animal figures, faces, or parts of the body, adding to the interpretive richness of the work. The dripping paint in some sections contributes to a sense of raw emotion and immediacy. There's a playful tension between the organic shapes that could be interpreted as "petals" and the more angular, sharp lines that might suggest "thorns." This juxtaposition could symbolize the duality of beauty and pain or the coexistence of softness and harshness.

Marcos Anziani (b. 1984) is an artist born in the Dominican Republic, raised in the Bronx, and now living and working in Connecticut. His paintings combine lyrical abstraction with expressionism in large, gestural strokes of color. The dazzling energy of the color is, as the artist says, curbed through context and line. Protean images of people and objects emerge from this technique, producing energetic paintings that dance over the canvas.

Jon Koehler Imagination Dream, 2024
Imagination Dream by Jon Koehler is a gravity-defying stainless steel sculpture finished with a matte white powder coat, spelling out the word "DREAM" in towering, balloon-like letters. This totem stands as a testament to the artist's innovative approach, playing with the viewer's perception of materials and inviting a reflection on the weightlessness of dreams contrasted with the solidity of metal. Imagination Dream is not just a visual spectacle; it's a physical manifestation of the boundlessness of human creativity and the substantiality of our aspirations.

Jon Koehler (b. 1966, San Diego) is a self-taught artist known for his dynamic steel sculptures, achieved by masterfully manipulating welding techniques, deconstructing the elements of steel, and pushing the boundaries of the medium beyond expectation. The California native encountered welding at a young age, thanks to the family business of boat-building. Koehler’s early exposure to the craft, coupled with his innate talent, forged a wildly skilled and detailed metalworker. Koehler strives to find the perfect balance between stillness and fluidity, and he works meticulously to create sculptures that embody the forms and forces of nature.

Koehler’s work has been exhibited around the United States in galleries and public commissions, and in 2023 the artist signed with Avant Gallery for exclusive representation.

Koehler transforms the cold, hard material into ethereal structures that are eye-catching, yet harmonious with their surroundings.
Largely inspired by nature, especially the ocean, Koehler’s fascination with fluidity, light, and movement is evident in his sculptures; the polished metal surfaces reflect the surroundings and change based on the viewer’s perspective, giving the appearance of motion to a static form. His series Burgeon comprises weightless-looking shapes that resemble pool floats, à la Jeff Koons; meanwhile, his series Inflated Silhouettes features pairs of figures that recall the simple elegance of Alberto Giacometti’s iconic sculptures.
