About
Tyler K. Smith is an artist, set designer, exhibit designer, and educator. After attending Indiana University’s Graduate School and the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture in Maine, he taught sculpture in Cortona, Italy with the University of Georgia Studies Abroad Program. While living in Hoboken, New Jersey, he won a New Jersey State Council on the Arts Fellowship and showed regularly at the 55 Mercer Street Gallery in New York City. He also began a freelance career in theater and film as an art director, set designer, and special effects artist.
His studio art/art history teaching credits include Rhode Island School of Design, Miami International University, Nova Southeastern University, and Broward College. Select exhibition venues include the BOCA Museum of Art, the Indianapolis Museum of Art, and the Arnot Art Museum in Elmira, New York. He was chosen as the exhibit designer for the World Aids Museum in Wilton Manors, Florida.
Tyler currently lives in a cabin in upstate New York with his dog Tuco, still teaching and making art.
