About
Since its establishment in Ginza in 2001, the gallery has carried out various projects embodying our unique values within Japan.
In 2011, the gallery relocated to Nihonbashi Bakurocho and became a full-fledged primary gallery.
We've been actively showcasing our artists through exhibitions at international art fairs and partner galleries, introducing them to a global audience.
Since 2016, our emphasis has shifted towards branding efforts in Japan, widely broadcasting our message.
In the fall of 2020, we proudly opened our flagship gallery on the second floor of TERRADA ART COMPLEX II in Tennoz. Throughout the year, we host dynamic solo and special exhibitions that strive to draw attention to the appeal of larger three-dimensional artworks.
In the winter of the same year, we opened an art studio to provide an environment where artists can focus more than ever on their production. In autumn 2023, we launched a showroom within Mother, an international advertising agency based in New York.
As we continue our activities in Japan, we realized how important it was to provide a more accessible environment for art. As a result, in February 2024, we founded gallery UG Osaka Umeda, which serves as our base in the Kansai region.
In July 2024, we expanded our presence with the addition of gallery UG Tennoz Annex, located on the third floor of TERRADA ART COMPLEX II in Tennoz, along with a second atelier for our exclusive artists
We aim to further enrich and expand contemporary art by proposing the original state of the art gallery, such as providing support for the artists’ production, fostering connections with and between emerging talents, and cultivating numerous opportunities for promotion, just like the former Paris Marg Gallery.

Kunihiko Nohara, Cappuccino Red Middle, 2024, FRP, 43.4×36.2×35.4 in
More infoKunihiko NOHARA is a national star within the Japanese contemporary art scene. In 2007, he completed his studies in the Sculpture Department at the Graduate School of Art, Hiroshima City University. The artist's commitment to innovation is evident in his exploration of different mediums. In contrast to the flatness of lines and color surfaces commonly seen in manga and other mediums, his sculptures, carved from wood, reveal traces of the carving process.
NOHARA’s works have been spotlighted in 20+ Japanese Art Fairs since 2010, collected by the Hiroshima City Art Museum and displayed in national galleries. Nohara's influence extends far beyond national borders, as evidenced by his extensive exhibition history spanning major art hubs worldwide. From Tokyo to Taipei, New York to Jakarta, his works have left a deep mark on the global art scene.
His much anticipated success within the artworld is due to his unique theme and vision for art: “The moment I feel independent from my surroundings, I sometimes feel like I'm in a slightly different time and space.” (Kunihiko NOHARA)
NOHARA is born into a culture and age of ‘information explosion’ - too many ‘new’ things result in rapid overdevelopment, shocking individual psychology and public spheres. Born in rural Japan amid the information explosion, this artist defies the norm. His unique works reflect an escapist mindset, using cute and humorous aesthetics to convey the creator's sense of helplessness in the face of society's larger frame. There is an underlying tone that explores the passage of time and the impermanence of the human figure, yet such a deeper theme is concealed from the public eye through the cute and joyous appearances of his sculptures. As such, his works convey a new wave of existential ethos most commonly found in the Japanese contemporary aesthetic, as an artist revolts against the power of the uncontrollably developing world.

Nami Okada, void No.120, 2024, acrylic, lacquer on panel, 63.8×51.2 in
More infoNami OKADA draws inspiration for her art from the places she has personally visited. Her work evokes a sense of déjà vu and a feeling of timelessness in viewers, who each come from different backgrounds.
Since everyone has unique memories and experiences, they form distinct impressions of a particular building or landscape. This diversity of perspectives means that a single scene can hold many different meanings. A common interpretation emerges only when several people find similar connections to it.
OKADA's art comes to life by exploring the relationship between scenes that have gained significance through shared interpretations and those whose meaning is still evolving.
