Laurie Frick Childhood Hunger
In a normal year 1 in 6 kids experience food insecurity, during the pandemic it doubled. It’s not just about nutrition. The effects on children are surprising. Obesity (yes, obesity because they get poor nutrition with dead calories), health problems like more frequent colds, diarrhea, asthma, allergies. Learning problems, repeating a grade, ADHD and more emotional issues - stealing, depression, aggression than kids of similar economic status who are food secure. Percentage of food insecure kids for 15 effects are in pink on the top, and percentage of food secure kids are in green on the bottom. 15 effects are laser etched on the yellow blocks.

Pascal Pierme was born in St. Raphael, France. He lives and works in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Pierme creates minimalist sculptures out of multiple mediums that help him work out puzzles related to balance, movement, inquiry, architecture and nature.
The artist cites his grandfather with his fragrant woodshop, as an early inspiration. Through him he learned how to be one hundred percent responsible for creating something from A-Z. Pierme studied Art History and Technique in St. Raphael, France and the Airgraph Technique in
San Diego, California. He has participated in hundreds of
exhibitions throughout the United States, France and Switzerland.
His work has been commissioned privately by the likes of Pierre Cardin, Carol Burnett, Marriott Hotels and the Equifax World Headquarters among others.
Pascal Pierme is interested in assimilating what is not supposed to fit—the combination of contrasting elements through a metaphorical chemistry. He composes elements into a moment and “freezes” it, therefore capturing a split second of evolution.

Laurie Frick uses data to examine what we can know about ourselves. In her hand-built
installations, drawings and small works she experiments with how we will consume the mass of
data increasingly captured about us. Evidence of her engineering background and long history
in high-tech are seen in the deep data analysis and detailed explanations of how this future will
unfold. Her work about the future of data were recently featured on NPR’s All Things
Considered, Atlantic and Wired Magazine; she has been invited to talk at Google, SXSW,
Stanford and TEDx. Recipient of numerous residencies and awards, including Samsung
Research, Yaddo, Bemis and Facebook. She holds an MFA from the New York Studio School, an
MBA from University of Southern California and studied at NYU’s ITP program that melded art
and technology into her current data work. Frick’s artwork has been exhibited in museums,
galleries and art spaces across North America, including Musee de la Civilization in Quebec City,
Science Museum in Oklahoma City, Pavel Zoubok in New York and Edward Cella in Los Angeles.
Represented by GF Contemporary, Blueprint, Michele Mariaud and Ivester Contemporary
