About
Pablo Picasso
Homards et poissons
Picasso started working in the Mourlot workshop in 1945. The collaboration between the artist and master printmaker Fernand Mourlot produced an incredibly extensive body of work consisting of roughly 400 subjects that Picasso created over the span of the next 20 years.
Homards et Poissons is the largest lithographic stone that Picasso has ever painted and thus the largest print that he ever created!
It is incredibly rare and of a beautiful pictorial depth. The classical sujet of a still life is reduced to black and white tonalities that are bathed in a dramatic light. The claws of the lobsters give structure and tension to this vibrant composition.
Our impression is beautifully inked with nuances of grey and black tones that are more reminiscent of india ink than lithography.
