Barak Rozenvain (Israel March 1, 1991 -)

Barak Rozenvain was born in 1991. A self-taught artist, who now calls Whistler home, Barak shares his time between the slopes and the studio, spending the day skiing and then returning home to capture his experience on the canvas.

The scenic mountainscapes of British Columbia quickly became Barak’s main source of inspiration. Dreaming of capturing the natural texture of the mountains on canvas, Barak created a new, stone-like medium by mixing sand, clay, and paint. Applied to a wooden panel with a palette knife, this new medium allows Barak to build his texture into elevated levels rarely seen in wall art. Combining sculpting and painting into one art form, the high relief is contrasted with a subtle atmospheric perspective, effectively capturing the grandeur and beauty of the mountains and the emotion of being surrounded by these natural wonders. The paintings reflect joy and happiness, capturing a beautiful bluebird day on the mountain with breathtaking dimension.
