About
Aleksandra Savina was born and raised in Kyiv, Ukraine, where she obtained her fine art diploma and worked extensively in her field as a teacher and designer before emigrating to Toronto, Canada in 2006.
Through her paintings, Aleksandra has explored cubic forms with an impressionist sensibility, applying defined geometric brushstrokes to create her compositions. Her work has evolved in recent years through experimentation with new materials and techniques, most notably painting on multiple layers of plexiglass to create dynamic paintings that shift with the viewer’s perspective. Aleksandra plays with depth by superimposing her characteristically flat and geometric brushwork onto multiple layers of transparent plexiglass.
